Why I Started Writing This Down

Why I started writing this down

For years I kept the interesting parts of my work in scattered notes — half in a notebook, half in a podcast recorder, half in slide decks nobody outside a conference room ever saw. This publication is an attempt to put all three in one place: the writing, the audio, and the slides, so a single page tells the whole story whether you read it, watch it, or listen to it on a run.

What this episode covers

This first episode is a walkthrough of the ideas that got this site built in the first place — why show notes deserve to be a real article and not an afterthought, and why a slow, typography-first site beats a flashy one for content meant to be read closely.

  • A short history of how "show notes" became a second-class citizen
  • Why a written companion piece changes how people engage with audio and video
  • What I'm planning to publish here over the next few months

If you only have a few minutes, the written version above covers the same ground as the full recording.
